A "Hunting Box"

     Michael's Dad has this medium size wooden "hunting" box that he stores all his bullets, knives, etc. in and Michael has always wanted to eventually get one of his own. Well, the other day Michael wanted to just "walk through" the hunting section at Walmart. While taking "our stroll" he just happened to spot this box he'd always wanted.... The best part was that it was on clearance for $5.00. I don't think I need to say he was rather happy as he carried it out of the store! :)

A Much Needed Update....

     It has been forever since I have posted on here, and  a lot has taken place! The first weekend of July we went down to AL to visit Michael's Granny and help out in a weekend revival. Then on the 4th it was off to a week of camp meeting in Pell City, AL. We had a wonderful time there!

     We stopped off at 6 Flags Over Georgia on the way home with Michael's oldest brother, Jimbo, and his family for a day of fun & relaxation....{Well, not so sure about the relaxation part! :)}

     After arriving home we set out to unpack, find our overtaken yard and garden, and prepare for company Friday night. Our dear friends, Jaylena & Ben McDowell, along with the Male Quartet from Penn View, were staying with us. We had a great time with them!

     Monday started our VBS, and that is always exciting, but very exhausting as well. I believed we averaged somewhere around 40 kids every night. It was also one of the hottest weeks we've had all summer and our dear old church van has no AC, so that made things even a bit more interesting. :)

     Thursday night our dear friends, Rachel & Roxie arrived to spend the weekend with us on their way to a camp meeting in TN. We had a good time in spite of us being wore out from VBS. They were great sports anyway, and even let us drag them around calling on the kids Saturday.

     I believe that pretty much brings everyone up to date on life in a nutshell. :) This week will consist of  cleaning house, catching up, etc., as well as trying to finish putting up the corn in out garden! Hopefully the next post won't be so far away.....;)

~ A New Addition ~

     As of yesterday, we have a new and rather unplanned addition to our household! Since at least Wednesday  he has been living at our church under a trailer that is parked on the property, and appears to be a golden retriever or golden retriever/collie mix. He still has some of his puppy look about him and is extremely sweet. It looks like he's been abused and that someone has thrown hot tar on his face.
    We couldn't  leave him stranded at the church with no food, so we brought him home and are in the process of cleaning him up...brushing, cutting mats off, etc. For the time being he is going to reside here... He seems quite happy to just stick around and soak up the attention. I am not sure if I'm totally ready for the training, etc., but hey, it might not be that bad. :)
    Pop started calling him, Traveller, {after Robert E. Lee's horse, I believe:)} so we decided that is what we might as well call him. :)

The black is the tar.

It appears that he doesn't like Monday mornings either. :)

Green Beans

     The other day I did my first pick of our green beans. I got 4 one quart bags blanched and in the freezer. :) Also, Pop finally came home from the hospital with no new heart damage or blockages..For that we are thankful!! His blood vessels in his heart were not staying open like they should so they put him on some new medication to help with that.

UNC Football Stadium

     Isn't is crazy how when you live or work close to something like a historical site, sport attraction, etc. that people would love to see, however.... you never take the time to enjoy it or look around. Well, every day that Michael works he is a stone's through away from the UNC football stadium, and yet before last night we had never taken the time to go look at it.
    Pop is in the hospital with heart problems and we were down there last night with them so we decided that we were just gonna take the time and walk around the campus for a little bit and go see the ball stadium.
   Here are some pictures we took.... The stadium is abviously not being taken care of at this time because it is not FB season, so the grass, etc. is not "poster material". {You can always click on the pictures if you'd like to make them bigger!!}

I very common site... fixing to land on the hospital roof.

One of the entrances.

A picture I took of a picture they had there.
