~ A New Addition ~

As of yesterday, we have a new and rather unplanned addition to our household! Since at least Wednesday  he has been living at our church under a trailer that is parked on the property, and appears to be a golden retriever or golden retriever/collie mix. He still has some of his puppy look about him and is extremely sweet. It looks like he's been abused and that someone has thrown hot tar on his face.
We couldn't  leave him stranded at the church with no food, so we brought him home and are in the process of cleaning him up...brushing, cutting mats off, etc. For the time being he is going to reside here... He seems quite happy to just stick around and soak up the attention. I am not sure if I'm totally ready for the training, etc., but hey, it might not be that bad. :)
Pop started calling him, Traveller, {after Robert E. Lee's horse, I believe:)} so we decided that is what we might as well call him. :)

The black is the tar.

It appears that he doesn't like Monday mornings either. :)

Green Beans

The other day I did my first pick of our green beans. I got 4 one quart bags blanched and in the freezer. :) Also, Pop finally came home from the hospital with no new heart damage or blockages..For that we are thankful!! His blood vessels in his heart were not staying open like they should so they put him on some new medication to help with that.

UNC Football Stadium

Isn't is crazy how when you live or work close to something like a historical site, sport attraction, etc. that people would love to see, however.... you never take the time to enjoy it or look around. Well, every day that Michael works he is a stone's through away from the UNC football stadium, and yet before last night we had never taken the time to go look at it.
Pop is in the hospital with heart problems and we were down there last night with them so we decided that we were just gonna take the time and walk around the campus for a little bit and go see the ball stadium.
   Here are some pictures we took.... The stadium is abviously not being taken care of at this time because it is not FB season, so the grass, etc. is not "poster material". {You can always click on the pictures if you'd like to make them bigger!!}

I very common site... fixing to land on the hospital roof.

One of the entrances.

A picture I took of a picture they had there.

A Face Lift.....

Well... the blog has received a patriotic face lift with July 4th rapidly approaching, however, I am not sure if I'm really sold on it or not, so it may change. :) I liked this background, but there were some I might have liked better but couldn't get to work right.....Anyway, have a good day!! :)

Mowery/ McDowell Wedding

A week ago this past Saturday, our dear friends, Jaylena & Benjamin, were married up in PA. We went up there a couple days before to try and help out with final wedding preparations. It was a beautiful wedding and we were so happy to share their special day. :)
I wasn't able to get very many pictures do to being in the wedding, and Michael was running one of the video cameras, but some dear friends have been kind to share some of their pictures with me. :)

Garden Update...

Here are some updated pictures of our little garden. It definitely isn't Martha Stewart, but its a first time experience! It's still "under construction". :)

This cucumber vine is at least 5 ft long.

We have several green tomatoes. :)

Gettysburg

During our visit to PA for a wedding, we stopped at Gettysburg for the majority of a day. Michael had never been and it had been 6 years since I'd been. One of our favorite instructors from college, Doc. Brian Black, came down ( a 2 hour drive) to give us a tour. He recently passed the written exam to be a tour guide there, so he was more than happy to do it. :) We spent four hours driving around and stopping at monuments and battle fields. It was an amazing experience!! We took several pictures and I tried to just pick out a few to put on here..... There was so much that happened there...

This is the North Carolina Monument.

The same man who did Mt Rushmore's faced did these as well.

General Lee.

On Little Round Top

The stones represent the northern line in Pickett's Charge. The monument is North Carolina soldiers...That's how close they got.

General Mead ( Mead & Lee's statuted face eachother across Pickett's Charge.)
