Thursday and Friday we worked on getting our garden tilled and planted {for the most part}. :) It was lots of hard work, but it was fun! ....Now to just keep the deer out.

A Good Report
Michael went to the Doctor Tuesday about his foot, and it was a good report! We are so thankful, and are enjoying being free of the boot and into an ankle brace. He is going to start back to work on Monday, so this week is mostly for strengthening up his ankle so he can make it through his 10 hour shifts without pain.
On the funny side..............The assistant came and called Michael's name to take him back to the room to see the Doc and when we got back there she turned to Michael and ask, {refuring to me}, "And who is this here, Your Mother?" Michael replied, {slightly taken by surprise} "She's my sister". And by this time I'd had enough time to get over the shock and firmly replied, "I'm His Wife!" So, ya never know what you're going to run into.... :)

Porch Chairs
We have a set of wicker chairs and a table sitting on our front porch, but I wanted to spruce them up a bit. We have a little red grill, so I thought that would be a good color. {Also we are wanting to paint our sheds that color} So we bought two cans of outdoor spray paint and went to it. :) We were very happy with the results, and eventually I would like to get new cushions or recover these ones because they are weathering. I don't have any good pictures of them before, but did find one.....

A Big Storm
Saturday, April 16th, the big storm that has moved through Oklahoma, Alabama, etc. came through NC. However, we are extremely grateful to have been missed by its horrific force because so many others were not so fortunate! Yesterday in our state alone.....
There are 22 reported dead and at least 130 injured. More than 450 homes were damaged or destroyed when there was 62 tornado touchdowns in at least 20 counties. Huge commercial stores, such as Lowe's Hardware, were destroyed as well.
We however only experienced strong winds and heavy rain while the main part of the storm missed us.(in some cases by 12 miles.) Tornadoes were seen that close, ( a couple streets down from our church) but never touched down. For more information or pictures you can go to this news web page, www.wral.com .(The pictures are taken from ones people have posted on that web page.)

Allie and Snuggles
Today we took Allie out of her cage and officially introduced her to Snuggles, our semi-indoor cat. Snuggles was actually quite terrified of her while they were in the house. Then we took Allie outside for a while so she could get some green grass..... and even then Snuggles wasn't so sure....

Shane
I am so proud of my littlest nephew, Shane. (He is 3 but turning 4 next week.) He sang a special yesterday morning in church all by himself for the first time! :) He did such a good job too!

Update on Michael
Yesterday we went for Michael's follow up appointment from his hospitalization. Thankfully that problem seems to be a "one-time-only" thing and is totally healed and good as new!
This morning we went to the doctor about his foot and found out encouraging and discouraging news. The break is so small it can hardly be seen but the sprang is really bad, and that is what's causing most of the pain and swelling. They put him in a walking boot so he is getting around on that at the moment with the help of a cane. He is very happy to be able to be doing more things for himself and to his hands free as well. :)
He will be in the boot for anywhere from 2-4 weeks, then it will be a small brace that will support either side of his heal, but he will have full foot function at this time.
He can not drive with the brace [and it is also illegal to try] so that means he can not work because he drives for a living...So... we shall see how the next couple weeks unfold. So far the Lord has been taking care of us and I know He will continue to do so!

FloweringTrees
There are several aspect of spring down here that we do not have back home that I have come to love....No mud, you don't have to wait until the end of May for it, etc. :) But the main reason I think is the fact there are so many flowering trees...They are everywhere!! They're are different shades of purples, pinks, and white.
Perhaps one of my favourites is the dogwoods, which my in laws have three of in their front yard among other trees that I think are so pretty! I took a couple pictures and want to share them with you.....(They don't really capture their beauty however like I wish they did!)

A Broken Ankle
If it is not one thing then I suppose it's another. :) Michael had just fully recovered from all that went on the beginning of this week....He was turning and stepping off a curb at the same time and broke his ankle. He said it popped four times and then when he went to stand up, it was a shooting pain that almost made him pass out.
So we got home propped it up and put ice on it, ate supper, and headed back to the ER at UNC. We were there for 4 1/2 hours and they put a splint on it for 10 days, and then Michael can probably have a walking boot for the next 4-6 weeks.
Thank you so much for you prayers, emails, phone calls, and text messages.... They are a big encouragement! :)
